How Each College Major Would Follow A Recipe

Each major's take on cooking and following recipes.

How Each College Major Would Follow A Recipe

Everyone is different, but we all have something in common. We all like to eat. Whether you prefer eating in or going out, nearly everyone has cooked or baked something that required a recipe. When using a recipe to cook, it seems that everyone goes about it differently, especially college students. In light of this, I have created a list, a list of how each college major would follow a recipe. How closely do you match?

1. English Major

The English major is made to read, so they would likely read the recipe in detail and follow it step-by-step. The result? Perfection.

2. Business Major

The business major would take a different approach. Making something that everyone loves sounds like a start-up idea to me! Business majors would take the product and run with it, producing it in mass quantity to sell to other students.

3. Engineering Major

At first glance, it might seem many engineering majors would likely throw recipes to the wayside and create their own thing, but the engineering majors I know have informed me that it's more of an "increase in efficiency". Whatever you call it, they don't follow the recipe they're given.

4. Nursing Major

Nursing majors love to cook, but not without knowing the nutritional information first. Before making the recipe, nursing majors will definitely check out the health benefits first.

5. Theater Major

Theater majors love good food, but not only for the taste. The creativity of theater majors allow them to be inspired by anything, so they will likely create a play about the dish. Look out Hamilton, a new Broadway hit is coming your way!

6. Math Major

Math majors are rule followers. They will most likely be measuring the flour precisely, making sure not to miss a step.

7. Computer Science Major

Computer science majors most likely steer clear of the kitchen. If they want the recipe made, they'll probably yell up to their moms from the basement. They'll probably be wildly successful in the future, but not for their cooking skills.

8. Psychology Major

Always the analyzer, psychology majors will evaluate everything. They might not even make the recipe because they are too busy questioning the reasoning behind creating dishes from recipes in the first place.

9. Art Major

Also very creative, the art major will make the recipe, but with artistic flair. Whatever they make is sure to look amazing!

10. History Major

Before even stepping foot in the kitchen, history majors will be looking up the background story and origin of the dish they are going to make. You have to know the history to get the full experience, right?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
