To the college kids who fear the future—it’s going to be ok
Hi, I’m Kaylee and I have no idea what I want to do with my future, and I am okay with that. It took time for me to get to the place I am in today. Lots of faith and trust in God that no matter where I end up, it’ll be exactly where I am supposed to be. The future is flexible for a reason, we aren’t supposed to have it all figured out. We are constantly evolving and as individuals and changing our minds every second of every single day. Society tells us we need to have it all figured out well, big surprise here, society is wrong and so is everyone who tells you otherwise.
We are taught from a young age that we go to school, get good grades, go to college, get a job, fall in love etc. Well, I am having absolutely none of that I am calling complete B.S. on all of it. One of the beauties of living in the United States is that we can do whatever we want. The choice is ours, not our parents, not our friends, but ours. If we follow and listen to God instead of society then everything will work itself out just fine.
I’m not saying that we can just cruise through life, quite the opposite. Not having a defined plan is more work than having one. We must constantly remind ourselves not to freak out over out open future and to not make plans just to have them. We must constantly work at keeping an open mind to all the possibilities that are out there. My friend once told me that she thought there was a good side to not having a plan for your future. She said that people without plans are more open to opportunities that come their way, whereas those who do may be blind to the same opportunities because they are blind to anything other than what they have mapped out.
Overall, your future is yours to create and don’t fear the unknown because it will work out. You just must have a little faith.
