Dear Recent College Grads Trying to Find Full Time Employment,
Let me start out with this-- I feel your pain.
I know, from various friends and myself, that the pressure is on to find a job. From family, from society, from the mounting student loan debt -- the world has made it very clear that you are an "adult" now and it is now time for you get a nine to five.
I fully and whole heartedly believe we will all find full time jobs. Will it be in our field of study? Well, I can't guarantee that. I also can't guarantee when we will obtain said full time jobs, but I just know we all will.
Here's my thing though -- why are we rushing?
I am super eager, just like every other millennial, to start working in the real world, move out of my parent's house and start living life on my own. But why are we making this a race?
If anyone didn't notice, we just finished four years of constant schooling, constant exams, constant stress. Let's enjoy the summer!
Go on a road trip, have a party, savor all the time you can spend with your friends and family now, before you get a real world job and you don't have the extra time to spare anymore.
This letter is not to bash full time jobs -- they're necessities, a part of life that can't be ignored or skipped over. But, not to sound like Drake, we're only young once! We can apply to every job under the sun when the weather turns cold and snowy.
I am a big believer in "things happen for a reason". Obviously, life planned for us all to not get a full time job right out of college and to have some time to ourselves. Trust in life's plan. You are exactly where you are supposed to be right now.
In the meantime, meet me at the beach and bring me a drink.
Sincerely,
A Stressfree College Grad
