I was sitting in the Kitchen with my grandma - watching Christmas movies on Hallmark.

Aside from the fact that all of their movies are about white, straight couples and their parents, I was crying that what's-her-face's father decided to stick around. Talk about internal triggers manifesting itself outwardly. So I look over at my grandma - who is ALSO crying and realize I have basically turned into her.

Here are the six signs that you have turned into a grandma.

1. You try to feed everyone

Someone at work forgot to bring a lunch and doesn't have any money? No problem, you already have a slew of snacks for them to choose from. Your best friend has been eating cabbage (*cough* Sharon *cough*) for a week because they don't get paid enough and have too many bills? No issue - you order them some pizza and make sure they get some food in their fridge.

2. You take naps

Not only do you relish these naps, you take them randomly while watching Netflix or reading. This can also be associated with being a baby... just accept it.

3. Views on children are skewed

You either think kids are the greatest joy life has even given you or you think they should all be blasted to Mars. "Kids these days.." And yet, they seem to be the future, so you're constantly feeling conflicted about your own feelings... which of course, is confusing as Hell.

4. Online shopping & shopping channels

You suddenly have the QVC, HSN, EVINE, and JTV apps on your phone, not to mention that you have exclusively been in a long-term relationship with Amazon Prime and Groupon. "OMG, stretch pay is so cheap, I couldn't pass up this awesome deal - [name] will LOVE this gift for Christmas." (not to mention it's probably June so you're PRE-purchasing for Christmas)

5. You always seem to have candy/snacks in your bag

My desk is stocked with an excessive amount of candy and snacks for not only myself but also for co-workers in the event they want it. Not to mention that I keep candy in my purse as a JIC type thing. It's basically everywhere.

6. So much crying

Hallmark is on TV and you can't help by silently sob while watching the straight, white couple get their Happily Ever After - whatever that entails. Saw a cute animal either in person or on TV? CUE THE TEARS. Seriously - so many feels.

Embrace your Grandma status and push forward!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
