To My College Family...Thank You
@katie_casteel15

Dear college family,

We all know college is hard. We've been there for each other through emotional breakdowns, exciting news, life-changing experiences, midnight IHOP runs, and everything in between. So this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for all of you and how you have impacted my life, because I don't know where I would be without you.

Thank you for listening to me. I know I can repeat the same story a thousand times-- thank you for tolerating that. Thank you for always being available to hear me out and let me talk myself into or out of something. And thank you for being the voice of reason when I try to talk myself into doing something really stupid.

Thank you for always having my back. Yes, we argue, we disagree, we get annoyed at each other. But we're family. We always come back to each other. No matter what situation I manage to get myself into, you always have my best interest in mind. Even though I might not express it at the time, I am incredibly grateful for that.

Thank you for binge-watching Netflix with me. There is nothing quite like coming home from a long day, putting on sweats, and binge watching "The Flash" with my favorite people. I know I can count on you to sit through every plot twist and moment of screaming with me and then talk about it for the next few days. I wouldn't trade those moments for the world.

Thank you for knowing how to make my day. You know that Chick-Fil-A sweet tea is my drug of choice and that chocolate covered almonds are the best snack ever. You know that food is the way to my heart. You know that mirror notes and sweet Post-Its on my door are a foolproof way to make my day a little brighter, and I so appreciate that.

Thank you for making everything a little more fun. Five hours in the library or working out alone? Gross. Five hours in the library or working out with you hooligans? Adventure. Thank you for the motivational hugs when I need to finish an essay, the IHOP runs when none of us feel like cooking or eating campus food, and for always having a witty Snapchat to make me laugh. Because of you all, I know that each day is a new adventure.

Thank you for encouraging my spiritual walk. Whether it's a deep conversation over a milkshake or 2a.m. Jesus time, you are always there to help me actively pursue God. I can't thank you enough for the prayers, the impromptu worship nights, and the times we've whipped out our Bibles together and had incredible conversations about how God is working in our lives.

Thank you for inspiring me to be a better person. I am not the person I was when I started university life, and I have each of you to thank for that. Your different personalities and passions changed me in the best way possible and I am a better person because of it. Whether it is your work ethic, your undying passion for your future career, your ability to give advice, or your willingness to goof off and have a good time, each of you has changed some aspect of how I look at life. I think we can all agree that I am a way more awesome person than I was when we first met.

Thank you for being my family. College is hard, and no one should have to do it alone. Thankfully, I have all of you. You push me to do better, you pick me up when I fall, you make me laugh, you cry with me, you make life better. I am forever grateful for all you are and all you continue to be.

Love,

Me

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
