College Described Through Friends
Ross-Unagi

College can be described as exciting and eventful, and crazy and stressful. From the all-night study sessions held in the floor kitchen to the hungover mornings before work on a Saturday. Food is always a priority and splitting the bill never gets easier. Netflix overdrafts your account and you have to call mom to transfer you $5 in order to prevent an overdraft fee. But what would college be without that?

1. When your the first to move into your dorm room

That feeling when you walk into an empty dorm room and know you can pick the side closer to the window. Hello cold breeze.

2. Learning How to Do Your Own Laundry

We all know that struggle of not knowing what the temperatures or spin cycles mean. But eventually you Facetime'd mom and she was able to walk you through the process. Red shirts do not go in with your whites.

3. When the Professor Goes Off-Syllabus

There is an unspoken rule between professors and students. Professors provide the syllabus and we provide the work. When you change the syllabus up mid way through the semester, it makes it difficult for us to hold up our end of the bargain in a timely manner.

4. Trying To Tell Your Parents You Are a Grown Adult and You Do What You Want

Face it. Despite how independent you like to think you are, you still bank on that $20 they throw your way every now and again.

5. You Order Late Night Dominoes and Your Friend Thinks They Can Eat Half

You ordered and waited for that food. Who do they think they are?

6. Having Everything Due At One Time

Its like your entire department got together to decide that 2 Papers, 3 Projects, and 8 Exams should be held in the same week.

7. 8 a.m. Classes

No human is ready to present at 8 am. Its all just bad.

8. Not Knowing What You Want To Do With Your Life

Only a $150,000 piece of paper. Still no idea what to do with the rest of my life.

9. Parents Weekend

Your roommate just informed you its parent's weekend and their parents are coming down for all the festivities. Guess who gets to clean their room for 3 days in order to make it seem like its perfect? You.

10. Long Weekends

Time to take a nap or 5 and enjoy the fact that you have an extra day to do nothing.

11. Friday and Saturday Nights

Time to turn up like Ross. One more shot of tequila please.

12. Waking Up Post-Friday Night Festivities

Annnnnd ending your weekend like Ross. Not always married in Vegas to your ex who turns out to be your baby mama, but definitely with some questionable decisions made the night before.

13. Nights in with friends

These are squad goals. And your squad resembles every bit of this trio.

14. Knowing this is your life for four whole years

It's crazy and unpredictable but you wouldn't change a thing for the world.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant.
