The holidays in college can be extremely stressful at times with all the festivities. Finals week lurking around the corner does not help. The worst part about the holidays is wanting to buy the absolute best gifts for friends and family and not having enough money. Here are five simple tips to save a little money as the holidays approach us!
1. Take advantage of reward programs.
Many different stores and restaurants offer reward programs through their apps. Starbucks has different offers like sales, free refills in-store and buy X drinks, get one free. Mcdonald's offers many different savings such as free fries.
2. Join email lists.
Obviously, on this, avoid joining every store to avoid a lot of unnecessary spam. This is a great way to keep up with sales and get exclusive coupons. Bath & Body Works is one of the best stores that I have found for this. They give their customers a few days heads up to upcoming sales ($5 sprays) and exclusive coupons!
3. Re-gift.
So you receive a gift that isn't so great, and that is OK. Regifting is more common than what most people let on. The only rule to regifting is to make sure that the original gift giver is NOT at the same party.
4. Avoid eating out.
Let's be honest, having the same ole food every day can get kind of old. I often find myself eating out way more than I should, and that adds up fast. If you live on campus, that meal plan is there for a reason.
5. Cut unnecessary spending.
Buy new shoes but already have 10 pairs? Five-dollar Starbucks? Yeah, that is what I mean by unnecessary spending.
