College As Told By SpongeBob

Who says SpongeBob isn't relevant anymore?

College As Told By SpongeBob

As we get older there are just some things that we can't outgrow. For example, I will never think that Spongebob isn't funny. It's a classic, and I've come to realize that it describes college in more ways than one.

Patrick's food craze isn't all that crazy anymore.

Pizza at 2 o'clock in the morning? Absolutely. Not feeling pizza? Whataburger. Who cares if you brought 4 snacks to your 50 minute class? This is college. We're some hungry animals. We miss Momma and Daddy's home cooking and we will fight to the death over good food.

You're basically as happy as Spongebob in boating school on the first day of class.

So this is college, huh?

And then you see your friend walk in and you know class will never be the same again.

Seriously. You thank the heavens that this is college and professors don't separate their students.

Studying, going out, and working can make you realize what lack of sleep can really do to your appearance.

How purple do the bags under your eyes have to get before you should worry?

But then when you actually get ready you feel like you're on top of the world.

No, creepy weird boy at the bar, I don't want to dance with you. Do you honestly think I would waste all the time and energy it spent in getting ready on one really awkward 3 minute dance? Think again, buddy.

Taking your drunk friends home is the best and worst part of your night.

You may want to wring their neck by the time you get home, but at least you have some really awesome pictures to show them in the morning.

By the end of the semester, you're just completely over it.

Honestly, you're just lying if you say you haven't Googled how to be rich without a college degree. We've all been there.

You've seen girls move their bodies in ways you can't even explain.

You do you, booboo. You work it better than I do, and for that I applaud you. Maybe give me some lessons?

Most importantly, you've found your person.

I hope each of you can say that you've found your best friend like I've found mine. Life is just a little easier with this person. You may wanna scream at them some days, but without them college would be too much to handle.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
