A sweet little bluebird once whispered in my ear,
“Take a leap of faith, and you’ll fly, my dear.”
Up the oak tree branches,
I started to climb.
I closed my eyes shut,
and proceeded to fly.
The air felt so crisp,
like an apple sublime.
The world was my oyster
for that moment in time.
I soared and I soared,
not a care in sight.
Pushed my worries aside,
and savored the flight.
There was a sense of joy,
of peace, of calm.
Nothing could stop the wind,
as it sang its lovely psalm.
I opened my eyes to take in the view,
but all I could see was down.
Closer and closer did I approach,
about to crash right into the ground.
My heart stopped,
and I couldn't breathe.
As I fell closer,
death was upon me.
It was almost over,
my life was flashing.
Until I realized,
There would be no crashing.
This was a dream,
it was all mine to choose.
I will not give up,
this life, I will not lose.
So I closed my eyes shut,
and said one last prayer.
God answered my call,
I was back in the air.
You will succeed,
don't be afraid to try.
As the bird promised me,
my darling, you will fly.
