The United States is built on a two party system. This meaning that two major political parties dominate politics. While only two parties dominate the politics. It is important to note that there are other parties in the United States. Aside from the Democratic Party and the Republican Party there is the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party, and the Green Party. While these are the five largest political parties, they are not the only political parties.
With the presidential election coming up in November. I believe it is important to know all my options. I regret that I often forget their are candidates outside of the Republican candidate and Democrat candidate. My friend recently brought the Green Party to my attention. I then decided it was worth looking into.
The Green Party was established in 1984. According to the www.greenparty.org "Our political goal is an America where decisions are made by the people and not by a few giant corporations." The Green Party is the oldest, continuously active Green organization in the United States.
The Green Party has ten key values. These values are, grassroots democracy, ecological wisdom, social justice and equal opportunity, nonviolence, decentralization, community based economics, feminism, respect for diversity, and future focus and sustainability.
Jill Stein is the presidential candidate for the Green Party. She was also the 2012 presidential candidate for the Green Party. According to Jill's website www.jill2016.com Jill is a mother, organizer, physician, and pioneering environmental-health advocate. Jill was born in Chicago and raised in Highland Park, IL. Jill graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard College in 1973 and from Harvard Medical School in 1979.
Stein has what she calls a Power to the People Plan. Some of the key points of Stein's plan are jobs as rights, end poverty, health care as a right, and many more. Another key point to Stein's plan is a Green New Deal. Jill Stein plans to create jobs by moving to 100% clean renewable energy by 2030.
Remember your options. Vote Jill Stein 2016.
