As late February and early March approach, so do midterms and, thankfully, so does snow. However, most of the snow we get down here comes in the form of ice. With ice, comes the shut down of basically the whole town. So when you have a group of 20,000 plus 18 to 24 year-old kids, you can only imagine how fun, dangerous, relaxing, and out of control things can get. Here are some tips on how not to waste this ice/snow day.

Go to a party. Do not just go to any party. Go to a snowpocalypse-snarty-anything-snow themed party. One where everyone forgets how cold it is because of how much body heat is generated in the house while dancing. Go dance, enjoy a fire, and joke about the weather with complete strangers while trying to look decent in that thin, but cute top we all know you are freezing in.

Hunker down. Lock yourself inside. As awful as this might sound, it can be incredibly fun. Craft your heart out or watch Frozen four times on loop -- or just sleep. Either way, make sure you have food because people tend to panic when restaurants close and there will be no ramen or bread in sight.

Be outside. Enjoy the rare weather phenomena occurring and get a sled, some gloves, and boots and go stomp through the white grounds. Campus really is incredibly beautiful when covered in ice and snow. There is nothing quite like it, so grab some friends, make a snowball, and run and fight in the powder while it's there.

Go to a friend’s. If you are like most people, you do not use this time off to sleep, but rather to engage in social activity. Call up a friend, go to their apartment and sleep over. Stay up with them and bake cookies or call up a group of people to play board games or rent a movie. Enjoy each other and just laugh, and relax about the fact that school has been canceled and all your midterms have been pushed back.

No matter what you choose to do this snow day, make sure you are safe. Remember that there is nothing like having a day or two off from school and seize the opportunity to have no responsibility. Have fun, Tigers!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
