2018, I Thought I Was Ready For You But Am I?

I can't be the only one who is having a rough start to 2018.

So picture this, it's New Year's Eve and you're sitting on the couch watching the ball drop with the kids you are babysitting and your two best friends. As soon as it's over you think "This is it. This is going to be the year that you are actually ready for."

That was me coming into 2018 and we are damn near a month into it and I'm no longer ready for this year.

Right off the bat, I cut and dyed my hair. I started the year off with a fresh look in hopes to inspire a fresh mind. I was ready for school and prepared for my classes. I was going to get healthy, get fit.

But my 2018 looks something like this, I'm sick with some mystery cold that will just "go away", eventually. I have roughly 250 pages of combined reading every week, I average about 2-3 breakdowns every week and let's be real the stairs kick my ass every day and if there's an elevator, you could bet money on the fact that I'm taking that S.O.B to avoid the stairs.

I've been looking around campus though, and it seems to be a common theme with everyone. I've seen about 16 different people wearing pajamas to class just in the past few days. Maybe I wasn't the only one who thought I was totally prepared for this year only for it to b*tchslap me back into reality.

Just to clarify though, January hasn't been all bad. I've seen "Jumanji" 3 times and I've managed to keep up with doing my laundry. I've been able to make a bunch of plans for the next few weekends with my boyfriend which is great because he'll be transferring to Connecticut at the end of February.

With all of that being said though, January has pretty much whooping my ass like a rock'em sock'em robot. But I'm going to be positive and count January as a practice month. 2018 will officially start February 1st. Consider this a PSA, there's still time to make 2018 a badass year.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
