I Cleaned Out My Purse So That The World Can Finally Know What Women Really Keep In Their Purses

If you're reading this and you carry a purse, I'm sure you've been asked "What do you even keep in there?" hundreds of thousands of times. In fact, if you don't carry a purse, you've most likely wondered this very question! Yes, the inside of the purse is a matter that has remained a mystery for centuries.

At the request of my left arm (which was being weighed down from the dumbbell-of-a-bag I was slinging on it every morning,) I cleaned out my purse this weekend and documented the whole process so that once and for all, the world can know what women really keep in their purses.

Are you ready??

1. Hand lotion

Because every girl needs lotion, right?

2. A Starbucks product care packet

I'll be honest, I was surprised to see this. I had bought that mug back in December. Had I not cleaned my purse in that long??

3. Crochet hook

You never know when you'll need to crochet something.

4. Tide to Go

Perfect for those times when I spill chicken salad on my favorite cardigan.

5. A tea packet

I remember when my friend gave this to me on New Year's Eve...

6. A popsicle stick

I'm honestly just as surprised as you are.

7. Mint that I took from an Applebees Restaurant

Life Hack: Always keep an abundance of mints in your purse for an everyday pick-me-up.

8. Hand sanitizer

This one is actually supposed to clip to the outside of my purse, but when I noticed that my attempt to be clean was leaking a trail of cucumber-melony goop everywhere, into the purse it went.

9. Pearl earrings

Purses can be safe place to store earrings when you realize that one of them is missing a back. They're also the perfect place to forget that said earrings ever existed.

10. Clarinet ligature

Everyone keeps random clarinet supplies in their purse, right?

11. Lipstick

Much like the earrings, this item was thrown in and promptly forgot about.

12. An abundance of keys

There is only one key in this whole picture that I have a legitimate idea of what it goes to.

13. Ticket stubs. Lots and lots of ticket stubs.

It makes a nice historical outline of where I've been in the last four months.

14. M&Ms

A perfect surprise for when you're looking for a snack.

15. A list of ingredients for some super sweet bread I bought

Mmmm. Bread.

16. A sea of trash

Maybe my purse isn't the BEST place to throw away my trash.

17. Hair accessories

Bangs in your face? Need the hair off your neck? Check your purse, as you probably have thrown one of these products in there absentmindedly.

18. A button?

I honestly have no idea where I got this, but after I snapped this photo, I clipped it on my purse anyway.

19. Chapstick

This must be new; I haven't opened it yet.

20. Money!

If you're lucky, you'll keep (find) money in your purse!

21. Cards. So many cards.

If it's a card, I have it. License, rewards, cash, business, etc. I've got all the cards.

And now, a list of honorable mentions of the most memorable things I have found from past purse detoxes:

1. Two plastic spoons

2. An opened packet of butter

3. Chic-Fil-a fry sauce

4. A Kazoo

"What do you even store in purses?" Anything and everything!

Purses are perfect for holding items for everyday use or for temporary storage. Much like each and every person, no two purses are the same as each individual will use their purse for the function which best suits them. Some may be empty, some may be bulging. Some may be well organized, some may be in need of some desperate cleaning.

If you're looking for some extra storage, I highly recommend the purse!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
