There are many instances when the classics just seem to out-do the new-be. The older are always wiser, more experienced, and just seem to know the best way of taking on life. This can also relate to other parts of life. In my mind, you can never go wrong with a classic singer like Louis Armstrong or the classic film of (the original) Wizard of Oz. New ideas are constantly being brought into the world, which don’t get me wrong, is great for future development, but there is just no way to beat a classic feel-good movie, song, or just hearing some wise advice from someone who has lived their life twice as long as you have. I wanted to emphasize a few specific instances when the classics seem to hit you right in the heart.
My first “old-school” moment that can be enhanced with the classics of sitting inside on a rainy day with a mug of hot chocolate, also a good ‘ole classic, while listening to James Brown or Ella Fitzgerald. Your heart can't help but warm up with some good jazz music and the sound of rain falling down on your window.
Maybe it is just me, and maybe a few others out there, that still want to be connected to the “oldies” and the classics. However, I think it can be a good step forward to bringing back the good parts of world’s history. For example, another major classic that I’ve touched in another blog and I know its more than just me who wouldn’t mind being a part of this classic’s come-back. Walking up to the front door when arriving at someone’s house, not checking your cell phone while spending time with others, and being completely present and “into” what is happening in life around you. I think that is what is my favorite part about the classics. They show complete attention to their surroundings and have a pure feeling to them.
Ever since I hit the age of appreciating the many parts of life, I loved talking and learning about the time my grandparents lived. Of course, I mainly enjoyed the romantic points and the fashion that developed from the twenties to the seventies. Having a love for what I view as the classics is something that makes me who I am and it is one of my favorite parts of me. Falling in love with a pair of leather pants my mom wore when she was in college and having the desire to sit and watch White Christmas for my favorite holiday movie or watch the Wizard of Oz and know all the words to the songs is a prideful part of who I am. In my mind, you just can’t go wrong with the classics.
