Classes Are Over, Graduations Are Happening, And Summer Is Upon Us, Now What?

Whether you are working, taking summer classes, or binging the latest Netflix series, try to fit some of these 12 ideas into your plans this summer.

Whether you're a freshman, soon-to-be senior, or a new graduate (congrats) summer is here and you should be thrilled.

But, now what?

The summer is full of possibilities, adventures, and lots of chill days spent on Netflix catching up on the latest shows.

Here are 12 not Netflix related things to do during the summer which I totally suggest you should try, because I am going to do the same.

1. Go on a picnic.

Don't take just any regular picnic, but go somewhere new or where you haven't been in awhile. Spend some time with nature. Don't forget to bring a blanket and pack your favorite foods. Oh, and your best friend.

2. Do some puzzles.

Don't like puzzles? Okay, cool. I can't really help you there, but maybe you should try one just for the heck of it. My tip: start with the edge pieces before stressing out over the middle for days.

3. Volunteer at your local animal shelter.

I can't say that I have ever regretted going and snuggling sweet animals that need it most. While it is harder to leave as I end up too attached, those babies need it more than ever.

4. Throw a wild dance party.

I don't care if it's with your self or with your besties. Turn on some music, grab something to be your mic and jam the night away creating memories to keep you laughing through the summer.

5. Write some extra articles.

I mean, you may already be a content creator, and if you're not you should be... apply here . Spend the extra time you'd be laying around anyway writing the next article to go viral.

6. Treat yo'self.

You deserve it. You just worked your tail off. You may still be super crazy busy, but take a break and take yourself on a date. Paint your nails, do some retail therapy, whatever it is that makes you happy do it!

7. Pay it forward.

Nothing makes me happier than doing something for others. Whether they need it or not knowing that I could be a part of bringing some joy to someone else gives me so much encouragement. Need an idea? Pay for a strangers meal or surprise your sister with a cool date.

8. Worship.

I get so much more out of worshipping the Lord than I do when I am sitting around watching TV. I mean, I am still going to catch up on some much-needed shows, but I am also going to go on some adventures while praising my Savoir who ultimately got me through the last year.

9. Volunteer.

Find some ways to plug into your community or town. Get involved in the little opportunities that you come across this summer. Be productive and mingle with your neighbors. Again, I have never regretted volunteering and helping out some who need it more than I do.

10. Learn something new.

I. Need. To. Do. This. I am so tired of saying I want to try this or try that, so you know what- let us learn something new together. You can't cook? Neither can I, so want to try it together?

11. Journal.

Keep a journal and write in it every single day. Write something positive or something that is on your heart. Reflect and pray on it and see how you feel at the end of the summer.

12. Love.

There are so many ways for us to love. It may be buying groceries for someone in need or simply hanging out with a long lost friend. Whatever it is I encourage you above all to love this summer. To make memories in midst of whatever plans you have this summer. You might be working or even in summer school, but instead of binging Netflix the entire summer try to fit some of these into your schedule between shows.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
