Gun shots echoed throughout Red Square as crowds fearfully scattered in different directions around the University of Washington campus. It had already been an emotional day at the University after the early morning inauguration of a new, yet not so respectable, President of the United States. Known especially for their liberal views in Washington, students have been particularly taken aback in terror of what the next four years truly have to offer. The violence ensued late Friday night as demonstrators, many of whom had previously spent the day protesting in Red Square, expressed opposition toward conservative speaker, Milo Yiannopoulos. Helicopters circled the premises for hours, yet the sensation of trepidation remained in the air. The 32-year-old man that had been shot in the stomach was taken to Harborview Medical Center immediately in critical condition. The ‘person of interest’ turned himself into the UW police early Saturday morning, however a feeling of unease still lingers in the air.

Politics: the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.
Politics are so much more than government and public affairs. Politics are seen in sports teams when it comes to saving money on contracts with certain players over others. Politics are seen in jobs where the individual with the most personal connections gets the position over other applicants with equal experience. Politics are seen in elementary school when Girl Scouts fight to find the highest paying customers. Politics are seen in divorces. Politics are seen in business ventures. Politics are seen in courtrooms, in classrooms, in offices, and in families. Politics are a part of every day life, and even so, some conflicts are much bigger than others.
Debate. Conflict. Power. Three words that define the causes and effects of politics. Debate comes with anger. Conflict comes with violence. Power comes with dominance. All these things, when combined, calls to question the American idea of freedom, democracy, and fairness in a time of much turmoil and anger.
Civl War II — I wouldn’t be surprised. It already feels like war outside and on the news. The line between democrats and republicans has been drawn too thick. One party wants justice for insincere actions. One party wants to knock down every person that has contrary opinions to them. Both parties want to be superior.
Outside countries scoff at our actions. People feel sorry for us. My friend who lives in Ireland told me that I could move in with him there. It is one big joke to everyone outside of the United States. We are blind to the scorns of our violent behavior, and as a result, pain is far too evident.
Prepare for Civil War II. In the face of chaos, pain and ruin will be the ultimate result.
