New York Truly Is The City That Never Sleeps

The city that never sleeps is unlike any movie, song or story you have ever heard. It is so much more. It’s more complex, more inspiring, more exciting, more fun, more opportunistic, more inviting and more love-filled than anyone could ever explain.

The city is not for everyone. You could say it’s an acquired taste but this city is different. New York City is a bundle of simple ideas made into intricate happenings. The complexity of this city leaves you wondering. Leaves you with an understanding that you will never be able to understand or acclimate all that happens on a daily basis in this beautiful and fast-paced place. The complexity is intriguing. It leaves you wanting more; wanting to understand more, wanting to learn more and wanting to experience more.

The inspiration that is drawn purely out of the existence of a place is staggering. Just being in the presence of so many different people, cultures, professions, and lifestyles is an inspiration in itself. Being in the city makes you want to belong there. Makes you want to be something. Makes you want to succeed, achieve and simply receive all it has to offer.

Something about the lights that are still going strong at 3 in the morning, or the people walking around the streets in a full on suit at midnight, or the window displays at Tiffany’s, Chanel or whatever your favorite store may be or simply looking up at the extensive heights of the glass buildings, inspires you, implants dreams in your mind and gives you a sense of invincibility.

It inspires you to do things you would never imagine yourself doing and makes you aware of the endless possibilities you are capable of. This feeling is irreplaceable.

I never thought a place could be as exciting and as fun as the city that never sleeps. The most ordinary acts such as walking around the streets turn into fun and excitement when you're in NYC. The excitement of waking up in the city, dreaming of what your day will consist of fills your smile lines. A day in the city never fails to gift you with enough fun to last a lifetime.

The opportunities are endless. Although this saying is absolutely cliche, it is also 100% true. Not only are there endless amounts of things to do and people to meet, around every corner there is a new opportunity. If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

Being from Texas, you're used to some good ole southern hospitality. You're surrounded by inviting gestures, sweet words and loving and genuine people. You always hear that it's not like that anywhere else. I often wonder if they tell you this on purpose to make you stay. On my trip to New York City, I made quite a few friends by simply walking the streets.

The people were inviting and filled with love. I think they long for that connection with people just as much as people from anywhere else in this world do. I was surprised to find out that people in NYC weren't that much different than us from Texas. I felt just as welcomed, loved and important there as I do here but maybe even more so there.

Being surrounded by success and happiness makes you feel important. It makes you feel like you're truly "in it." You're a part of it without really being a part of it. As I said before, there is nothing I can tell you about New York City to give you the feeling I got whenever I was there. You have to experience it for yourself. But I can assure you that the city that never sleeps will never disappoint.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
