Christmas is undoubtedly my favorite holiday. There are so many amazing and beautiful things about this holiday season that just truly make you slow down and appreciate all the things and people that are in your life. At the heart of this holiday season is of course, the music, which is the best part of it all to me.
I’m a sucker for the classic Christmas songs, both the traditional songs heard in church and the '50s and '60s style songs (aka the originals). It’s just so special to me to see that an entire atmosphere changes just by putting on Christmas music.
Each time I come home for Christmas it has become a tradition to put on Christmas music while Mom and I cook or bake in the kitchen while we catch up on everything. I’ve come to associate Christmas music with a sense of home and warmth that just always puts me at ease when I need it the most.
The past few weeks have been busy and stressful but the one constant that got me through it all that showed me that there was a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel was the great reminder that with Christmas music comes actual Christmas.
Getting through finals and lots of driving and stressful times truly proved that music always helps no matter what, and for me, Christmas music is my weak spot. I may not know all the words to the songs or sing it correctly or even in the right pitch, but I get feel joy from hearing familiar and comfortable songs.
Yeah some of the classics have been remixed a little but the meaning still rings true which is a gentle reminder of what the Christmas season is all about. Each song that I love to listen to is a loving reminder of peace and joy and happiness to share with others. That is why I love Christmas music so much.
