When is the perfect time to start listening to Christmas music?
As the days and nights begin to get colder, a lot more things begin to change. After Halloween winds down and people begin to take down their spooky decorations, the month of November begins to settle in, but Thanksgiving isn't what's on people's minds, or at least not mine, but instead they think: Christmas! If you're a Christmas fanatic like I am, right when I wake up on November 1st, I start playing my Christmas music playlist. Maybe it's because it's always hot in Arizona or the fact that Christmas music is the best, but once that clock strikes midnight I start playing Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas is you."
This is such a controversial topic because people tend to think that simply skipping over Thanksgiving is so disrespectful, as it has so much sentiment to people because it's a time where families gather and cherish their unity. People like to say that the holiday, Thanksgiving, is underrated and forgotten. I like to disagree. Thanksgiving is actually where my family and I play our Christmas music the most. There obviously isn't any Thanksgiving music to play, all there really is to watch is the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special. Christmas is just as special as Thanksgiving, they essentially have the same meaning, just that one has music dedicated to it.
When I was little, and even now that I'm technically an adult, I would make a playlist of my favorite Christmas songs and blast them in the middle of the hallway to wake up my family as soon as the calendar changed from October to November. It just feels so right. The weather is changing, the semester is ending, and everyone is beginning to come together as one all over again.
The point is, it's never too early to start playing Christmas music because after all, it's the most wonderful time of the year.
