The holiday season is here! There is no better time of the year to curl up by the fire with a bunch of blankets and binge watch movies. Here is a list of a few must-see movies that everyone should get around to watching.
1. "Elf"
Elf, a modern holiday classic. Whether you love or love to hate Will Ferrell, almost everyone can agree that "Elf" is one of his best movies. There's just something about a grown man running around New York City in an elf costume that brings everyone together.
2. "National Lampoon's: Christmas Vacation"
Oh, Sparky! Starring Chevy Chase, another SNL alum, "National Lampoon's: Christmas Vacation" is arguably one of the best in the franchise. The combination of the dysfunctional family and Murphy's Law will have you in tears from the laughter. And quite honestly, who hasn't felt like Chevy Chase while trying to put up their Christmas lights.
3. "Love Actually"
Aside from having one of the most iconic romantic movie scenes, "Love Actually" is the perfect combination of romance and humor. One minute you're watching Hugh Grant embarrassedly dance the hallways of the prime minister's office and the next you're listening to Colin Ferril confess his love to a Portuguese woman in her native language.
4. "Jingle All The Way"
TURBO MAN! Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christmas isn't a combination that people tend to think of. But this 90s era movie does it perfectly. Nothing describes the madness of going Christmas shopping better than Arnold Schwartzenegger desperately trying to hunt down that Turbo Man action figure.
5. "Home Alone"
Macaulay Culkin was so cute back in his prime! "Home Alone" is one of the few movie franchises that didn't have a horrible sequel (we're excluding "Home Alone 3" because you can't have it without Culkin). Plus who doesn't love watching meddling kids outsmart a couple of goons!
6. "A Christmas Story"
You'll shoot your eye out! "A Christmas Story" is one of those movies that you can watch over and over and over and over again (yes, I'm talking about you, TBS). "A Christmas Story" truly shows the magical feeling that children feel during Christmas time, a nostalgia that anyone can relate to. Plus, who can forget RA RA RA RA RAA! RA RA RA RAA!7. "How The Grinch Stole Christmas"
So while the live action Grinch has a few trippy tendencies (they did too good of a job at creating the Who's) the Grinch basically the spirit animal of every college student during the holidays. Plus, if you've watched it recently, there are a lot of adult-friendly jokes that totally went over our heads when we were younger.
8. "The Polar Express"
"The Polar Express" in another movie that is able to capture the magical feeling that only occurs during Christmas time. While the world can be pretty cynical at times, sometimes you've just got to believe. Also, you can totally jam out to the hot chocolate song.
