The days of knighthood and courting are over, but that doesn't mean that the set of standards and beliefs that knights once followed have to die. In our day and age, it's very easy to lose sight of the little things which show that chivalry isn't dead, it just needs to be reinforced a little more. Here are some ideas to help you resurrect kind and chivalrous ways.
1. Holding the door for someone
Probably one of the easiest ways to bring back chivalry. Just take the two seconds out of your day to wait by the door a little longer and brighten someone else's day. On a date, open the person's door for them, its one way to make a good impression.
2. Calling instead of texting
Thanks to technology, our communication has risen greatly... through texting and such. Just changing up the usual text to a phone call is more personal and is nice.
3. Walking to the door on a date instead of calling
For those of you sitting in the car with your finger about to press the dial button, take the time to stretch your legs a little bit and score some brownie points by meeting your date at the door. Also, walk them to the door when you drop them off.
4. Giving up your seat for someone else
There might be a situation where a person needs to sit down. If you're able to, it's best to ask if they'd like to sit.
5. On a first date, offer to pay for dinner/movie/etc.
Doing this will definitely impress the other person. Just make sure it's not excessive. If it is, then going dutch is probably the best option.
6. Offering up your jacket
One of the most old-school ways to be chivalrous. Give your date the coat, even if you're actually a little cold yourself. Just mind-trick yourself for a little bit.
7. Send the occasional flowers/gift/letter
Everyone likes the occasional gift, especially when it's a surprise. Go out of your way every so often to give that excitement.
8. Offer to help carry something for someone
Not only will the other person show great appreciation for your help, you'll get a nice workout out of it and maybe even their phone number.
Go a little bit out of your way every day to bring back chivalry. It's contagious and it makes the world a little bit better every time someone acts in that manner.
