Day after day, I watch millennials have no regard for the elderly, whether it's holding the door for them, getting something off the shelf for them, or even calling their own grandparents. This generation doesn't take the time out of their day to appreciate your grandparents.
Living with my grandparents has taught me life lessons that I will cherish forever. Not only are they constantly teaching me, I am teaching them. Technology being their worst forte, I am always there to help them send a text message. I need them just as much as they need me. It's common knowledge that grandparents are the people we look up to most, but have you ever took a step back to realize how much they actually teach you?Grandparents are the best listeners. They will listen to you thoroughly and they will appreciate everything you have to say. Their advice beats anyone else's in my eyes. I would much rather take advice from my grandparents than a professor of mine. The experience they've had in their lifetime has no comparison to a college degree.
They will always be your biggest supporters, even if your dreams are irrational. They want to see you succeed and accomplish more than they could've imagined. With every opportunity that comes my way, my grandparents are always encouraging me to take advantage of it. They love to see me chasing after my dreams and accomplishing goals along the way.
Grandparents are always the first people to assure you to be independent but remind you that you'll never be alone.
They have taught me how to love and cherish the little things in life. As my pop would say, "Could be worse, I could be dead." Patience is something that has taught at a very young age, but grandparents make sure you never lose track of it. They've taught me to work for what I love and be patient for that work to pay off.
Eventually, it will.
