Make A New Year's Resolution, Even If It's Cheesy

"If you want to hit the gym, it's not cheesy if it's important to you."

Make A New Year's Resolution, Even If It's Cheesy

I here people say all the time how new years resolutions are stupid; however I disagree. I think new years resolutions are a great way to reflect on your goals and values and make a positive change in your life.

Heck, I even think weekly resolutions can become a thing. Why wait a whole year to accomplish your goals?

Someone had told me that they want to accomplish professional goals in the company he works at such as getting a raise and becoming a supervisor. He had even told me he wanted to run for state senator but did not think it was realistic. Well I asked him why it was not realistic and he said because of his job. Well I told him if it's his goal, he will find a way.

The point that I am trying to get to here is that no resolution is stupid or cheesy. If it's important to you and matter's to you, why care what others think? If it is affecting no one in harmful ways, I say go for it.

My resolutions are to get rid of social media, work on my confidence, and to stop overthinking everything in my life. Some people find the social media one to be humorous since everyone uses it. But to me this resolution is not cheesy; I want to do it to build a life of my own that no one will judge 24/7, make internet comments on, and I simply want to stop comparing myself to others. I want a life of my own without the opinion of society down my throat.

I was pleasantly surprised that I accomplished my new years resolutions for 2018 without even realizing it. I moved out of my home to PA like I wanted to, got a full time job, and started dating! I never thought I would start dating and even meet a guy I like. It is still a struggle for me to overcome my fear of dating but I did it!

If you resolution for 2019 is typical for 2019 like to workout more, lose weight, quit your job, and you think it's too cheesy, but a little twist in it. For working out, say you want to start a specific workout program like kickboxing or doing one hour of cardio. To lose weight, say you are going to cut our carbs or begin doing Weight Watchers. If you want to quit your job, say you want to go back to school or start looking on indeed for things that interest you. The possibilitites are endless.

In the end your resolution is not cheesy; other people's opinions are.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
