7 Cheap & Exciting Things To Do This Summer

Can you feel the weather warming up? The sun is no longer hiding and the fresh breeze smells amazing. Summer is almost here. No more assignment deadlines, group presentations or exams. No more overnighter at the library, stress infused sleep, or long nights. Summer is here and it couldn't come fast enough. If you don't want to be bored and stuck in your room all summer, here are a couple of things to do this summer!

1. Explore nature and go hiking

Nature can be cool sometimes. If you have a nearby park or even a national park, grab a group of friends and go explore. Sometimes you can find some pretty cool things on hikes, like a hidden path, great picture opportunities, and abandoned places. It'll be worth a couple hours of your day and you'll make some great memories with your friends.

2. Play sports with your friends

Grab some friends and play some sports! Go play soccer, baseball, or a pickup basketball game. It's a great workout and it'll get you out in the sun. If you're not athletic you can always watch a games happening and enjoy the sun's rays.

3. Get in shape

We all want to get into great shape for the summer but sometimes that doesn't happen. Still, it's never too late to get started. Go for a run or swim at your nearby local pool. You can do some great mini workouts with park benches, jump ropes, and stairs. You'll get that summer body you've always wanted.

4. Have a photoshoot

The sun will make for great natural light. Grab your old dusty camera or even your phone, pick out an awesome outfit, and find a location to shoot. Maybe an alley, store, or park. Those are just some places you can have an impromptu photo shoot. There are plenty of other places to go, so get creative and shoot.

5. Go geocaching

Ok, so this is actually a really cool thing. It's an app that involves people hiding very little capsules or big boxes everywhere. Sometimes they can really hidden or out in the open. Once you find it, you can leave your mark on it and find the next one. You'll be running around everyone looking for hidden objects. It's honestly so much fun!

6. Support your local art scene

Find some local art shows, band shows or even free festivals. It will get you involved in the local scene and you can even meet some great people this way. Also, what better thing to support than your local scenes.

7. Make your own slide n' slide

Ok, this is really random but if you have bubbles, a long slippery mat or material, and water this would be really fun with friends on a hot summer day. You will lose track of time and just have fun in the water with friends.

These are only some of the great and cheap things you can do this summer. There are so many other things to do, so get to thinking and get creative. Make it a fun and memorable summer and live your life. You only get one life!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
