Chase Your Passions

Living a luxurious life can be a nice thing. Material goods can bear a heavier significance in some individuals' lives than others. As much as I hate to admit the importance of money, it does tend to be a pretty necessary element of life. While all of the accessories of life are nice and people can be extremely drawn to these inanimate objects; interactions, relationships, actions and experiences are the aspects of life that result in a much more powerful emotion: passion.

Love Your Family, Friends, and Significant Others

In a society that has the tendency to reduce its social interactions to typed conversations on a phone screen, people are very susceptible to losing sight of the importance of relationships. There are a number of different interactions with other people that can bring about passion. Family is a crucial piece of the puzzle. Taking time to appreciate your time with your family while you have the chance is incredibly important. As much as parents and children can butt heads, that is one of life's most important relationships. If you are fortunate enough to have your parents around, take advantage of that luxury that some people don't have and spent time with them.

You don't get to choose you siblings, but if there is anything at all that you have in common with a brother or sister, use it to make a stronger bond. My younger brother and I couldn't be more polar opposites in terms of personality and interests, but I absolutely love the crap out of him. I know that he has a strong appreciation for good food, so I like taking him out to eat to get all caught up with him (even if he's ordering steak and I'm ordering tofu). Get friends that accept every one of your flaws and perks. And finally, fall in love with someone that you continue to fall in love with every time that you see their smile.

Find a Career You Can't Stop Talking About

Wake up every day and go to a job that you get absolutely lost in. If you don't love what you do, you simply aren't going to see the successes and get the satisfaction that you would out of an enjoyable career. Dreams are completely worth chasing, even if they seem slightly intangible at first. Passion can take career aspirations further than people acknowledge. There are exceedingly wealthy singers, chefs, artists, salespeople and inventors that allowed their passion to drive them to success.

Enjoy the Little Things

Outside of your career find the little hobbies and activities that bring you the utmost joy. Don't let the daily grind of life completely shadow the things that you love to do. If you enjoy baking, yoga, doing math problems, whatever- just do it! Passion is one of my favorite words ever because it is so crucial to chase it in order to life a fulfilled life, and I think a lot of people disregard the heavy significance of passion.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
