Yes, I've Changed, But That Doesn't Give You The Right To Judge Me For It

At the end of the day, the change is for me, not you.

Yes, I've Changed, But That Doesn't Give You The Right To Judge Me For It
Grace Kinnicutt

Just like the earth changes, people change too. But why do we judge others based on the changes they make in their lives? Just because I've changed, it does not give you the right to judge what I do or no longer do. The decisions I make are for me, never you.

Why do people change?

To grow, to learn or just because they feel it's needed. Whether it's a good decision or a bad decision, it doesn't define who I am. The change's I make, and how I go about those changes do not give you the right to judge my character. People are who they are, take it or leave it.

"You made a bad decision, you've changed."

Just because I made a decision that isn't approved by someone other than myself doesn't give you the right to degrade the choices I make. People are more than welcome to judge the decisions and changes I've made but by at the end of the day, it's me who has the final say of what I do and how I do it.

"I don't approve of your change."

Well, isn't that just dandy. Last time I checked it was my decision in changing for the better. But, please continue to feel free to judge upon changes that are necessary so I can continue to thrive.

"But those changes are so small, does it really affect you?"

Mhm, yeah I think it does. In order for a seed to grow and bloom into a flower, the progress starts out small and continues to change step by step. Basically, I'm a flower that's in the process of changing.

"Making negative decisions can lead towards change that is awful"

Mhm, last time I checked some bad decisions lead to great memories and stories later in life. And sometimes bad decisions happen but it's still a necessary experience in order to learn and then grow from it. But most small, okay to bad decisions, especially made in college, don't really affect you but they make for great stories to laugh about later in life.

People can continue to judge to my change, but hasn't anyone told you that change is healthy?

You're changing all the time, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Your views, perspective of family and friends change based on certain circumstances. Change is necessary in order to learn and grow from it.

Change helps to better understand not only yourself but others around you.

For example, certain views of mine have changed in the past couple years because of what I was able to educate myself on. I was able to educate myself on some of the views that were incorrect from what I was told or taught.

But the reason I love change and think it's necessary to go through it is that it always leads to a happier life. Some of the best (and worst) decisions I've made to help me go about change have always lead me to be happier in the end, and well that's the goal is to always be happy and thriving.

So, yes I have changed and will continue to do so.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
