When you hear the word 'change', what immediately comes to mind? Is it inherent fear of something so familiar becoming something so foreign? Is it excitement and anticipation for something new entering your life? Is it confusion and anxiety related to the nature and degree of the change that is approaching?
There are many different interpretations of change, whether it's good, bad, welcomed, or feared. The one constant among change is that it is inevitable. Everyone's life no matter how organized and meticulous, will experience changes. These can be minuscule or monumental, nonetheless, they will occur. Personally change makes me anxious because I am a Type A person who thrives off of schedules and organization. I like to have control over my life and imagining that life is an uncontrollable being makes me anxious. However, I have began to accept changes as a part of life. Life is like a movie. There is a distinct beginning and end for each person, but the lifespan is filled with "scenes" that make up every day, week, month, and year. Some scenes are longer than others, but the scenes will change and bring new people, experiences, or events into the life of the character.
This should be seen as an exciting part of life. While this is super cliché, the best is yet to come. There is no telling what's around the corner or what you might wake up to. Anticipating each new day as positive and welcoming the changes as they come, will bring much more joy than stress. This is something I want to work on as a person, but as I have made small progress, I have seen a major shift in my overall perspective of change. I am now seeing changes as ways to learn and grow, ways to better myself or the lives of others.
Change is inevitable, welcome it with an open mind and heart.
