It's inevitable. Sometimes it's for the better and sometimes it's for the worse. But, things are always changing in this world and so are the people.
I am so far from the girl I was two years ago, or even six months ago. I have new goals, new outlooks, new hobbies, and even some new friends.
I've changed my major from nutrition to psychology and have even decided to pursue a career in writing. I'm transitioning from my usual summer job, a camp counselor, to a publishing/ marketing intern in NYC (and potentially an employee of Lifetime Fitness). This is practically the antithesis of taking care of my little, three-year old campers everyday! I know I'm going to miss them like crazy, especially my little Maddy, but, I also know that this will be a great experience for me and that I can still visit them often. I've finally found balance with food and exercise, a change I never thought I would see. I've finally found balance between work and play; between time spent at the Ref and time spent at Skeeps. So yes, I've seen the good in change but, I've also seen the bad.
I've seen friends shift into different people, with polar opposite personalities, due to the groups they have chosen to associate with. I've seen some of the most important people in my life become distant and unrecognizable. I've seen new environments, new homes, and new challenges each and every day. And, as I've so rudely been told by one of these people, “that's life".
But, you know what? Maybe they're right, maybe that is life. And if that's the truth then, it's ok. Because as much as these new challenges can get you stressed and bent out of shape, in the end you grow stronger. You gain something from every hurdle you overcome.
Who needs a friend that is so easily manipulated, who can't even conform to their own set of morals? Who wants to hold someone in the highest regards, at the top of their list, if this person isn't willing to reciprocate?
So yes, change may be inevitable and it may be hard, but even in the "bad" there is always some glimpse of "good." Through experiences and change... we live and we learn, we develop and we grow.
