When I read the news that arguably Hollywoods favorite love story was coming to an end, I'll admit, panic may have set in just a little. The separation of Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan was a separation that anyone who followed their love story which sparked on the set of their 2006 movie "Step Up" dreaded to hear, yet here we are being forced to dance to a tune that we all hoped to avoid.
The heartache didn't set in until after the confirmation of the separation. For once I was hoping that this was a tabloid rumor, but a passage written by Channing and Jenna themselves confirmed it all. In fact, the passage was written to avoid tabloid rumors, and the passage confirmed everything that we didn't want to hear all while feeding us every line that we wished for.
A twitter post written by the two and posted by Tatum contains statements such as "Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another," and "... just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible." Honestly, the statements couldn't be more beautifully written.
When we hear of most celebrity couple breakups, it's written on the cover of a magazine. Rarely do we first hear of a separation through the couple themselves, yet Channing and Jenna acknowledge that if they don't confirm it themselves then they are paving a road of destruction.
So, they announced their separation through a well-done passage reminding the world that they are still the same people they always were, their love is just taking them down separate paths. I could not respect them more for making the decision to stop rumors and share with the world through their own words what we all dread to hear.
The ex-couple begins their statement with "We're living in an incredible moment in time, but it's a time where truth can easily get distorted into "alternative facts" so we want to share the truth so that you know if you didn't read it here then it's most certainly fiction." They are making it clear that they are the only reliable source for any news on their separation, and I respect that.
They end by saying "We won't be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family's privacy." We, as fans, should do just that.
We should all appreciate that these two, well known and followed celebrities took the time to clear up any false rumors and remind the world that they still appreciate one another by announcing their separation through their own words. They took the time to share the news with their fans and the world what is notably very private information. I couldn't respect them more for that.
Yes, I will mourn the separation of this beautiful couple for the next few days, but I look forward to the time ahead of seeing the beautiful friendship that can come from their mature relationship.
Hollywoods "It" couple may be no more, but the love they have shown on their journey together will carry on in time to come.
