11 Central Ohio Festivals To Visit This Summer

Do you like festivals but don’t like flower crowns, high waisted jeans, and everything glitter? Do find yourself extremely bored during the summertime? Don’t worry, because these amazing Central Ohio Festivals don’t require any flower crowns and still provide some major entertainment to your summer:

1. Columbus Arts Festival

Calling all art fanatics! This is the festival for you! You can find your artsy side on the beautiful Scioto Mile in Downtown Columbus between June 9th and June 11th. You’ll find everything from breathtaking photography to amazing stained glass windows to some really great food. If you plan to buy anything, get ready to spend some serious cash because this art is how all these awesome artists make a living. They put a crazy amount of time and effort into their work and it shows.

2. Buckeye Country Superfest

Do you love the country life? Well forget FarmersOnly.com and instead pick up a cute country boy or girl at Country Superfest. On June 10th and 11th in The Shoe, you’ll be able to see artists like Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Billy Currington, and more.

3. Comfest (Columbus Community Festival)

Are you one with nature? Look no further. Join your fellow hippies for a huge love fest in the peaceful Goodale Park starting on June 23rd and going through the 25th. Have a groovy time enjoying food and beer. You might even catch a glimpse of Mary Jane!

4. Jamboree In The Hills

Oh, look! It’s another country concert! Head on out to the hills of Morristown, Ohio to catch artists like Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean, and Lady Antebellum at this legendary 4-day music festival starting July 13th.

5. Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest

What's better than enjoying some smooth classic jazz while you eat your body weight in some delicious ribs? Absolutely nothing! Ease your mind and your stomach July 21st through July 23rd on the Riverfront!

6. Ohio State Fair

Have you ever seen a giant talking bear and a cow made of butter? Well if you haven't, or even if you have, you should head to the Ohio Expo Center just a little north of Downtown Columbus beginning July 26th. There you'll see the legendary Butter Cow and famous Smokey the Bear! Don’t fret; if butter cows and cartoon bears aren't your thing, there's so much more to experience while at the fair. Try the specialty fair food, the classic rides and games, the unique shows held in the Celeste Center, and so much more. Did I mention they have pig races and beautiful Clydesdale horses?

7. Dublin Irish Festival

As the saying goes, "If you’re enough lucky to be Irish, you're lucky enough!" The good news for everyone else? Being Irish isn’t required for this festival. Come check out the traditional Irish foods, beers, and step-dancing August 4th through the 6th. You might even find a pot of gold!

8. Columbus Food Truck Festival

Do you get really happy when you walk out of a store and spot a food truck in the parking lot? Do you give into temptation and usually get a bite to eat? If so, you’ll be loving life in Bicentennial Park August 18th and 19th. You'll be surrounded by some of Central Ohio’s best food trucks.

9. Millersport Sweet Corn Festival

Let’s be real, this is Ohio. Do you expect us not to have a festival involving one of the biggest crops grown here? We are so proud of our staple crop that we throw a festival just to get together and eat a few delicious ears of sweet corn! Join in on the excitement and head on down to Millersport August 30th through September 3rd.

10. Backwoods Fest

Rain or shine, down in the backwoods you’ll find some amazing homemade art and food. Bring the bug spray and prepare to get a little dirty because this festival takes place in Thornville September 15th through the 17th. You’ll really be out in the woods!

11. Delaware County Fair

Have you ever heard of the Little Brown Jug horse race? If you haven’t, check it out at the Delaware County Fair September 16th through the 23rd. They also have demolition derbies, school bus races, live music, and mouth-watering food.

Liven up your summer and make it worthwhile by attending anyone of these Central Ohio festivals!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
