With the new year of 2018, came a new Women's March and this year the turn out was even stronger than last year. The energy was unlike any other and some celebrities decided to step and show their support.
1. Halsey.
"@iamhalsey 2 days ago I recited a poem I wrote called “A Story Like Mine” at the Women’s March in NYC. I was asked to give a speech and I panicked for days. I wasn’t sure where to start.
The night before the march I penned this poem at 2 in the morning and the words spilled out of me like white water rushing down a river bend. I didn’t realize how emotional it would be for me to speak my truth but it was. And I’m so happy I did it. The support I’ve received since is overwhelming and it’s humbling and as a POET (which I always have been, songs or not) it was unbelievable to see people actually get the message.
And terrifying and comforting and confusing to see how many had stories to share that reinforced the sentiment and the title. We have a long way to go. But I’m thankful we are united over this. I’ve included a link to the poem in my bio. Thank you."
2. Sarah Hyland.
"@sarahhyland I am so very humbled to have been asked to speak at the #womensmarch yesterday. To stand in solidarity and speak about unity with my fierce sisters and supportive brothers meant the world to me. So proud to stand with all of you and be a part of history.
On top of all that I was able to experience this moment with my best friends and family. Yesterday was a special day but it’s not just one day a year people. Fight for what you believe in every day. This is a movement. A revolution. An uprising. We fight for equality and justice. #timesup We WILL be heard. And we WILL make a difference. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜"
3. Amy Schumer.
"@amyschumer Today we march #timesup."
4. Adele, Jennifer Lawrence, and Cameron Diaz.
"@adele The most influential people in my life have always been women. My family, my friends, my teachers, my colleagues, and my idols. I am obsessed with all the women in my life. I adore them and need them more and more every day. I am so grateful to be a woman, I wouldn't change it for the world. I hope I'm not only defined by my gender though. I hope I'm defined by my input to the world, my ability to love and to have empathy. To raise my son to be a a good man alongside the good man who loves me for everything I am and am not. I want what's best for people, I think we all do. We just can't agree on what that is. Power to the peaceful, power to the people x #womensmarch2018"
