Since election day most of us have been in a state of awe and depression. How is it possible that such a crazy and unqualified person could make it into the oval office? It seems we are all working our hardest to find a way to kick him out of office. Not to mention at this point I think we would take almost anybody over Trump for president. But is just anybody qualified for president? With talk of people like Kanye West and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson possibly running for president, should we really vote for them?
Now, I would take nearly anyone over Trump as our president. However, by anyone I mean someone with the correct background, education, and political experience to do the job well. I’m not saying that people who haven’t been politicians their whole life don’t have what it takes to be president, but honestly, it’s very unlikely they do. I won’t speak to Kanye West because in my own opinion he is a narcissistic fool, and he also went to visit Trump and show his support for the new president so he’s knocked off immediately. Dwayne Johnson, is another story. It breaks my heart to say this because I have literally had a crush on the man since 4th grade. Can you blame me? As kind as the man seems, as much as he seems to do the right thing, he just isn’t qualified. I stress this because last time people wanted someone who wasn’t part of the “typical” political system, we got Trump. To all the celebrities, you can insight so much change with your money, media influence, and your status in society. Rally your fans, donate to charities or causes, and talk to the media about how to change the world.
I truthfully don’t believe many, if any, celebrities have the ability to lead as an effective president. Maybe they, as we all can, say oh the president should have done this or that but that’s hindsight and is so easy for all of us to follow and then believe that we would have made that decision in the moment. When it comes to deciding on national security protocol, which countries to intervene or leave alone, budget cuts and healthcare plans, truly only those who have been in the political field and have that rare knowledge are able to make the effective and necessary decisions we need to continue successfully as a nation and as a world.
Celebrities have their place in the world and I truly don’t believe it is in the oval office. I mean can you truly say you think any celebrity is able to successfully balance the budget, come up with an effective healthcare plan, or make decisions on war? Celebrities have money, they have influence, and they have followers and fans who they can speak to and insight to make a difference in the world. When the next election day comes, we need someone in the office who is able to fix the mess we have found ourselves in as these next four years’ pass. We need someone educated in the art of politics. The system is so much more complicated than we could ever imagine. I applaud celebrities for wanting to change the world we find ourselves in, but the oval office is not the place for them.
