The Kardashian/Jenner family blew up in 2007 with the launch of their TV show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" on E!. Since then, each of the Kardashian/Jenner sisters (that is Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie) have made an independent name for themselves. Whether it is clothes, makeup, modeling, business, or a $450 million dollar reality television presence the family, truly has achieved the "American Dream."
Because what is the "American Dream" anymore? The "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality is not achievable in today's age. Not to sound nihilistic or anything, but with small businesses failing all over the country, tax breaks for international corporations, and governmental focusing on big business, it is almost nearly impossible to start a business from the ground up and achieve this so-called "dream" that is at the center of the "free world."
But the Kardashian/Jenner Family has done it. After a leaked sex tape, they capitalized on the five minutes of stardom that the world had given them and extended it to last over a decade. With each new year, each Kardashian/Jenner attempted to branch out, creating for themselves careers which extended their stardom even more. Objectively you can't hate them for being business women. For being cogs in a capitalist machine propagated by our society and making every right decision to further increase their net worth as individuals and as a family, I guess you could hate them, but it would be pretty empty hate.
Often people claim that the sensationalized success of the Kardashian/Jenners is the visible root of everything that is wrong with our society today. If you're someone who lives and breathes by this claim, here's my proposal for you: stop hating them and start loving yourself. If all you are putting into the world is hate for a family that is never going to see or hear your negative feedback, then how much good are you really doing?
If all your friends see you as this person that shouts out into the void about how they don't like celebrities, then how much time are people going to want to spend with you? Don't abandon your values, don't just give up. Fight for what you believe in, but focus on the small game. Instead of caring about how a complete stranger lives their life, put positivity into your community and enact change where it is going to have a visible difference.
At the end of the day, if all you are doing is shouting negativity into the world and expecting a positive change, then what are you really doing with your life?
