Celebrating Birthdays Is More Than Just Showering Someone With Presents

Birthdays. One of the most anticipated days of the year. I am one of those people who think that birthdays are this beautiful and unique thing that we should all love and celebrate. However, not everyone feels that way. Not everyone sees the beauty or excitement of it.

Birthdays are so special and unique, and they can bring so much love and happiness onto the person who is being celebrated. The optimist in me makes it hard not to believe in and hope for all of the good things and possibilities. Personally, birthdays are like holidays to me, I mean it's a celebration of some serious event that occurs every year, what other qualifications are there? They are such a beautiful to way celebrate life and spread love and positivity to one another.

If the world was filled with the same amount of love and positivity that we show on these special occasions, imagine how different our world today would be.

Counting down the days until this day finally arrives, making plans with your friends, finding an outfit to wear for the day, and then finally the day has finally arrived. Whether you go to dinner, spend a night out on the town, or just stay in with a few friends and family and eat your favorite cake. Everyone has their own things and own traditions that they do each year. For my birthday, every year my mom would make me my favorite cake, and we would sit down and watch the first round of American Idol auditions.

However, since I moved away for college, I'll miss that special celebration this year. For the first time in 18 years I won't be able to celebrate with my parents, but no matter what, I will be with the people I love, which is what birthdays should be about. Celebrating life with the people that you love and remembering what a great thing it is to have woken up this morning. So if nothing else, when your birthday comes around and you're just not feeling it this year, think about how lucky you are to be there in that moment, that day to celebrate the anniversary of another beautiful life coming into the world.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
