Stop Being A Grinch And Let Me Celebrate The Most Magical Time Of Year As Early As I Want

My Christmas tree is not harming you just because it's up in September.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It gets darker earlier, the air is cool and snowy, and there are twinkly lights everywhere. It's magical and calm and perfect.

But when we should celebrate Christmas has become a very polarizing topic. More and more people are complaining about people decorating "too early" and making the holidays be a competitive exchange. There's an anger around celebrating Christmas and giving every holiday their own time to shine. I read so many articles of people being put down for wanting to celebrate Christmas a little early.

My response to this is: Who tf cares?

Why can't I sing along to Christmas carols in November? Why can't I shop for all my favorite people in July, just to get their perfect gift? Why can't I love Christmas without getting hated on?

Just because I start listening to Christmas music and decorating my room with twinkly lights, doesn't mean I'm "not having time for Thanksgiving". It doesn't affect you in any way, so stop trying to make the best time of the year less joyful.

I can't go around listening to Thanksgiving music, although there is one that totally gets me ready to stuff turkey in my face. I can't really decorate for Thanksgiving except for some leaves and pumpkins around.

Sure, Thanksgiving comes before Christmas, but it's much more than just celebrating that holiday. The most exciting part of Christmas is the anticipation, the build-up to a day filled with love and family and, yes, maybe a few gifts.

So why try to shorten a season that brings so many people joy? I want to start celebrating Christmas as early as I can, just so I don't miss out on any moment. It's my favorite time of year, so why shouldn't I milk it as much as I can?

If you really feel that passionate about Thanksgiving, then don't put your Christmas decorations out just yet. But don't go around telling people to stop their early festivities, it just makes everyone sad.

So decorate as early as you want to. Listen to Christmas music as loud as you can bear. Drink hot cocoa and watch your favorite Christmas movies. Be happy, because life is too short not to eat spaghetti with chocolate syrup.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
