Trump's relationship with Congress

If you've been reading the news, you will notice that Trump is not getting along well with members of his own party. He's been feuding with Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona, even supporting Flake's Republican competitor in his Senate race for 2018. He's been feuding with Senator John McCain, also from Arizona for not voting to repeal Obamacare. Although Trumphad a problem with McCain during the election for God knows why. After being reminded McCain was a war hero Trump stated "I like heroes who weren't captured, okay?" Now, just recently, Trump made a phone call to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Trump berated him and cursed at him making sure McConnell knew that he needed to be protecting Trump from the Russia investigation. According to sources, Trump is constantly talking about and thinking about the Russia investigation. He is calling and berating many Republican Senators, not to ask for help, but emphatically telling them they need to protect him. So, what does this all mean for the Trump administration? Why is Trump so fixed on something he tells his base is fake news?

There is only one logical reason why Trump is so concerned about the Russia investigation. He and his campaign are guilty of collusion. There is too much evidence to be circumstantial. If he is guilty, yelling and berating the Senators that will potentially oversee any and all impeachment proceedings isn't the way to handle this situation. Trump, however, has never witnessed or been a part of a court case that he couldn’t just settle out of court. Attacking your colleagues in congress is also not how a president should act. Mitch McConnell put up a road block with President Obama, basically blocking everything Obama tried to get through congress and they were from different parties. This feuding is only going to lead to one thing: more Democrats in both houses of Congress.

Meanwhile in Pheonix, Arizona, Trump gave an almost incoherent campaign speech. That's right folks. This was a speech paid by his re-election campaign for 2020, and yes, I know what you are thinking. The money donated to this campaign can be used to pay for Trump and Trump Jr.'s criminal lawyers. Wow, isn't campaigning fun? The speech was a jumbled mess. He again brought up what happened in Charlottesville. Not by giving a moving tribute to the young lady who was killed, but to clarify his statement he gave about there being "violence on many sides, many sides." He also managed to get in a few kicks to the news media who, in his opinion, were just way too hard on him. The whole speech was nothing more than a pick me up, which is something he needed after the terrible week he just had and because his skin is so thin.

Hopefully this will show other Republican leaders and congresspeople what others have been seeing since he came down that escalator. Trump only cares about Trump. We are only seven months in and this illegitimate president is on the verge of resigning or being impeached. Who knows how much longer we have or how much more our country can take? Resist.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
