It can be assumed that when you go to a Catholic, single-sex, private, high school, that about all you did was pray and learn about religion. But that is very far from the truth.
My high school was very far from that. Of course, we did have times where we had to take religion classes, or we would attend masses and chapels, but it was so much more than that. We were taught how to look out for ourselves in the real world because honestly, my high school was too much of a protective bubble to be the real world.
We were taught that girls are so smart and have just as much to offer as men do.
We were taught how to bounce back when things did not go our way because even in that bubble, there were ups and downs.
And most importantly, we were given a great education.
I think the most important thing that my high school gave me was friendships that will last a lifetime.
It takes a special kind of person to be able to survive being in a single-sex school where there is sometimes drama for just about no reason, but I can happily say that I met some of the best people I know there.
I am grateful to have been fortunate enough to receive an education from such a prestigious school, and I will take that with me forever.
The weird traditions such as; conge, kairos, class-rings, wearing wedding dresses to graduation and so much more helped to mold me into the person I am today.
I feel that my high school did a great job preparing us to enter the real world, by giving us the tough love we needed regarding school work.
Yes, the work-load was very intense, but that prepared us for the collegiate workloads we now face, and I can say that I developed the needed study habitats to help me.
Overall, I loved our little bubble of only about 70 young women per grade, and I will always be very grateful to have been molded into just who I am today.
I made so many memories that will last forever, and I truthfully would not take any of it back.
