The Mischievous Tale Of Poppie And Luke

My two cats are so expressive and so distinctly unique, their story almost tells itself.

I've always thought my cat, Luke, is a character. He is such a quirky boy with a large personality. He has the curliest tail and the most handsome toe beans. He's brave, calm, kind, intelligent, and playful. I treat my cats with as much respect and care as I would my own children. I try to give them freedom and safety. Love and space. They help me medically as my emotional support animals, but they mean so much more than that to me and to each other.

My mother suggested to me: why don't you write a children's book? You share so many fun pictures of them, I'm sure you have enough content to document their adventures! I spoke with Luke and Poppie, and they agreed to be featured in this article.

Currently, my eldest boy is almost two years old. Here you can see Luke giving his signature wink.

Once Upon a Time... I adopted a young Prince named Sir Luke.

It didn't take long for Luke and me to become best friends. Soon, we were able to trust each other with anything.

While I was at my old residence, Luke met a nice lady named Miss Piper. Luke was used to being around other cats, so he was relieved to find a friend in Piper. They shared toys, wet food, and time together.

When the time came for me to move away, Luke grew suspicious.

I loaded up everything into the car, and Luke helped. He loves car rides.

When we got to our new place, Luke was disheartened to see Piper had not joined him. He would wait for her at the window.

He would scream, and cry, and mope all day.

I'd let him outside, and he'd try to make friends with the raccoons. The Raccoons did not want to be his friend.

Luke tried to find companionship in his toy monkey, but it just wasn't the same.

He tried to nap by himself, but he couldn't quite get comfortable. The bed just wouldn't fit.

Even though I tried my hardest to give him attention, I still had to go to school and work. Luke became very lonely, and his ears bent. This made me very sad and I knew I had to do something.

Introducing: Miss Poppie.

I made a few phone calls and I brought little Poppie home with me. At first, they were a little confused.

They weren't hostile like some cats are when they first meet, but it took a couple hours for them to get close enough to touch noses. There were some bent ears and guttural meows...

But before the day was over, Poppie had claimed Luke as her big brother.

Within the week, they became inseparable.

They quickly became a force to be reckoned with. A team.

Wherever Luke went, Poppie followed.

Poppie's favorite spot is the warmest!

Luke doesn't have to stare out the window alone anymore!

Everywhere that Poppie goes, Luke follows.

And when one is hungry...

...so is the other!

Sometimes, Poppie finds herself in a sticky situation.

Again...

...and again!

But, here with her faithful brother Luke at her side, Poppie is never in any danger.

Poppie learns from Luke, and Luke learns from Poppie. They aren't lonely anymore.

Whenever Luke senses trouble, he's there for the rescue!

Now the bed is a perfect fit.

There is nothing in the world that would tear these two apart. I will protect them with all my heart. I know they would do the same.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
