You've cat to be kitten me right meow, these cats are purr-fect!
1. Norwegian Forest Cat
Vikings originally brought these cats onto their ships to control rodent infestations. This particular cat is cuddly when it decides to be and is incredibly attached to its owner, accompanying them everywhere. As a semi longhair breed, its double coat is well insulated and waterproof, designed to withstand Scandinavian winters.
Fun Fact: This particular kitty was declared the official cat of Norway by King Olaf.
2. Ragdoll
Another friendly breed, this cat loves humans more than other animals and gets along well with young children. The Ragdoll can be three times larger than most cats and some adult males can be 35 pounds! They get their name from their relaxed personality, because when picked up, these cats just go limp. Their most dominant feature is their striking blue eyes.
Fun Fact: Many Ragdolls have been taught to come when called and play fetch.
3. Savannah
This cat is the largest domestic breed with the average male
cat being 30 pounds. Breeders can charge upwards of $20,000 for each kitten as
they are very difficult to breed and the gene pool is small. Unlike the majority of cats, the Savannah cat enjoys playing in water and is able
to learn how to turn on faucets, open cabinets and use and flush the toilet.
Fun Fact: These cats can jump a full seven feet from a standstill.
4. Sphynx
This cat resulted in a genetic mutation, and through selective breeding, it was coined as a breed. The cat can have varying degrees of hairless coats and is often compared to as a “warm peach.” They are known for being extremely loving, cuddly and clumsy around their owners. Due to the lack of fur, this breed requires regular baths.
Fun Fact: The most common question asked is if they get cold due to lack of hair, but most cats just find a warm spot to snooze in. If you are comfortable in a room, your cat is too.
5. American Bobtail
These cats are bred with stubby tails that come in a variety of sizes. Commonly used as a therapy cat, the American Bobtail breed is exceptionally friendly and affectionate towards people. These cats can be leash trained and play both fetch and hide and seek. Due to the nature of this breed they are highly sought after, and the wait list is long.
Fun Fact: This cat has adapted supremely well to travel and is the favored pet of truck drivers.
