True crime is my favorite subject in the world. Whether it be for a conversation piece, researching for myself, or just watching documentaries, I think there is something so interesting about it. Obviously, I'm not a fan of what these people do, but I am fascinated in learning more about why people do the things they do and learning in what drives people to do things to other people.
For those who don't know, Casey Anthony was a mom who had an adorable two-year-old daughter named Caylee. Long story short, Caylee mysteriously went missing in July of 2008 and then her remains were found in a local forest preserve in December of 2008. It was obvious to the public that Casey Anthony was responsible for her daughter's death since Caylee was last seen with her mother. Casey also didn't report her daughter's disappearance until 31 days after she went missing. This little girl was "missing" for 31 days while her own mother was out partying and not showing any sign of compassion or worrying about where her own daughter was. In some sick, twisted, way, Casey Anthony was found not guilty in the murder of Caylee Anthony. I'm pretty sure that Casey Anthony lives in witness protection as of this day, and most likely for the rest of her life.
Recently, on the TV station A&E, there was a special called "Casey Anthony's Parents Speak" where Casey's parents invited a television crew into their home as the 10-year anniversary of Caylee's death has passed. In this special, her parents open up about the heartbreaking details of their lives after their world was changed forever. This was a two hour special and I wish it was longer because I just love learning more and more about cases like this.
I am still so dumbfounded that Casey Anthony was found not guilty. It's so sick and unbelievable that she is living her life as her daughter's bones were found next to a tree. In the television special, Casey's mother is very sympathetic towards her daughter and believes that Casey is not in the wrong, as she believes that Caylee died after drowning in the pool, to which Casey panicked and hid the body. Casey's father, however, believes Casey is a different person to him now because he really believes that his daughter is guilty. His reasoning is that Casey gave Caylee some sedative to make her fall asleep, and gave her too much, resulting in Caylee not waking up.
After not waking up, Casey panicked and then shoved Caylee's body in the trunk of her car and fled the scene. The pieces never added up completely which is what resulted in Casey Anthony getting off the hook, and being presumed not guilty.
This entire case is honestly so fucked up. That's the only way that I know how to describe it. If you have the ability to watch this television special on A&E, please watch it. It's so worth the watch to learn more insight about this case.
