Whether it be school, work or even summer, we are always busy and it can seem like there is not a lot of time to relax and just have a moment to breathe. Even if it may not seem like there is time, there is always time to make sure that you take care of yourself.

Self-care is so important and even if it's just something little that is perfectly fine. I mean we all have to be a little selfish sometimes. Whether it's taking a night to pamper yourself, face mask, bath bomb and all, or just a nice tea or coffee in a quiet park for five minutes take that time to yourself. Even if you have a night where you are just way too tired to go out with your friends, don't force yourself to go. It is okay to take a night off. Overworking yourself can be such a hard and draining thing, so that is why it's key to take those little moments for yourself.

Now I know this might seem kind of hard to do at some points because being selfish can be hard or looked at in a bad way, but you also have to think about why you're being selfish. There are so many times where I feel like we get so caught up in thinking that if we want to take a night for ourselves it can be viewed in a negative way. Like how could you bail on your friends to spend time alone you're being so selfish. And yes there are people who might feel like this or you yourself might be getting MAJOR FOMO vibes, but it is okay to take a night off.

If we push ourselves too much and don't take any time to revel in some little indulgences, we're going to be miserable. Even if that indulgence is getting a nice double scoop ice cream that's okay. Being selfish can be a bad thing, but when it comes to making sure that you are taking care of yourself and not running yourself into the ground, it is an extremely important thing.

For most of us, summer break has started or is about to start and with that comes so many plans of trips, jobs, and vacations, that we sometimes lose the most important part about summer break and that is the "break" part. Summer is a time to go out and enjoy things, but as I sit here writing this, I've been extremely busy with work and have finally had the past two days off and I just lounged and took care of myself and you know what, It has been so good for me. From sleeping in to just being able to relax, it has made me feel so much better and ready to go back to work tomorrow.

Taking care of yourself can be a selfish thing, but it is not a negative thing. We should all be able to feel refreshed and ready to go as we face whatever our days and weeks hold. So don't be afraid to say no to an event in order to be able to have some time for yourself. Because you are just as important as everyone else and you matter. So don't lose yourself in trying to survive just on sheer willpower, but take some time to take care of yourself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
