With the political uncertainty growing in America, Americans search for a presidential candidate they can trust. They don't desire someone with perfect policies or the most experience. They don't just support someone who ignites their listeners with fine speech either, for Hitler could give a passionate address, and everyone knows how he is the definition of "desirable leader."
No, Americans want someone they can trust. Someone who had proved their character and dependability.
Americans want Captain America for president.
So as Americans step up the the voting booths for the 2016 presidential election, may they remember what makes them American and vote for Steve Rogers. For Rogers boasts of unchanging character, sacrificial leadership and proud patriotism. It's in his name.
Unchanging Character
The character of Steve Rogers stands on something bigger than strength or position. Consider his actions before he became Captain America. When Steve Rogers trained as a small man in the army, he chose to sacrifice himself in order to save his fellow soldiers by shielding them from a grenade, only to find out that it was fake. After he became Captain America, however, he still maintained this humble and strong character.
Sacrificial Leadership
Once established as Captain America, Steve Rogers didn't abuse his position or think of himself as anything else than a kid from Brooklyn with just a bit extra invincibility. Rather, Rogers led his men with courage and sacrifice.
His friend Buckee said, "The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."
Even when working with influential and powerful men / gods, Rogers didn't relent his own character or back down on his convictions.
After seeing Thor he responded, "There's only one God, ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
This shows that, if elected, no position, politician or perk will sway Rogers from his devotion to his responsibility as leader of America.
Proud Patriotism
Rogers uses his ability to lead people not for his own benefit but for the purposes of freedom and patriotism, even giving up his own life in order to save his country. He didn't just lay down his life, though, but when given a second chance chose to live his life in service to America and the world.
In this life he makes hard choices, as he would if he becomes president, "Sometimes in ways that made us not sleep so well. But we did it so the people could be free."
Even when such moves are unpopular and seemingly impossible, Rogers keeps his faith that America and freedom are worth the fight. This faith and character, if anything, are what will make America truly great again.
So who will stand with Steve Rogers as he runs for president in the 2016 election? Who will put their trust in Captain America's unchanging character, sacrificial leadership, and proud patriotism?
"The price of freedom is high. It always has been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay. And if I'm the only one, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not." -- Steve Rogers
(Note that unfortunately, this is purely fictional, but I do believe that we as Americans can learn much about American leadership through the character of Captain America.)
