'Captain America: Civil War' Credit Scene Ideas

It's a Marvel film, so there needs to be at least one extra scene.

Marvel Studios has things down pat. They have a formula and it works. Thirteen films in and not one of them is considered a failure, and that is not likely to change anytime soon. Part of that formula is the inclusion of an extra scene or two after the actual film is over. These scenes, known as tags, are often some of the more talked about scenes when people leave the theaters.

These tags often tease an upcoming Marvel film. The very first Marvel Studios movie, "Iron Man," had a tag that introduced Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, and teased the Avengers Initiative, thus laying the foundation for the actual "Avengers" movie that would come a few years later. Another example would be in "Antman" with a scene that is straight out of "Captain America: Civil War," which helps tease Antman's inclusion in this film. A second tag is sometimes added, which at times is for comic relief, and other times it is there to tease another film as well. "Antman" for example had a second scene, which teased a new hero stepping into the spotlight down the road, the Wasp.

So while these scenes are not technically in the movie, they are clearly important to the MCU as a whole. They keep people in their seats. Fans have become accustomed to at least one tag and will not leave as soon as the credits roll. If you are at a Marvel film and people are leaving when the credits start, you know they are not a true MCU fan. This expectation has carried over to other films, with certain studios delivering and others avoiding them to differentiate themselves (like Warner Bros.).

So before getting into my ideas, let's take a quick look at what are some general possibilities. Filming is complete for "Dr. Strange", which will be the next MCU film, so it's certainly possible that it's a scene from that film."Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" is currently filming and opens early next year, so reminding everyone that Star Lord and the gang are still having fun is not the worst idea. Both Black Panther and Spider-Man are in this film, so shooting a scene for either one to tease their solo films is plausible. Spidey is probably more likely since his film will come first of the two. Then there is Thanos. One can never rule out a post-credit appearance from the Mad Titan himself as he lurks as the big bad we are on the path towards.

So of these options, which will we get and how many? Will there be one serious one and one funny one? Time to get down to business.

The directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, have teased as many as three tags, something that has not been done yet. I do not expect that, as I think the comment was made to get people talking and the actual number will be the usual two. Since this will be a very grounded and serious story integral to the MCU, I think the tags follow suit, with two important scenes, and no comedic ones. Those two scenes will be to tease the solo films for Dr. Strange and Spider-Man.

Dr. Strange tag

Based off the first trailer, which is certainly strange (pun fully intended), the "Dr. Strange" movie will serve as a bit of an origin story. For those who do not know, Stephen Strange was a surgeon, and relied very heavily on his hands. But then came a tragic car accident that left his hands in very poor condition, and unable to perform surgery anymore. That is a brief introduction to the character and where his story begins. This was teased within the first trailer.

A decent amount of the fans that go into 'Civil War' will know at least that much about Stephen Strange. That is all one will need to get excited when they see this scene.

We see a hospital door open and a flustered Dr. Strange storm out. He rushes to his car and angrily slams the door shut before speeding away. He is shown mumbling to himself. The shot switches to an overhead shot of Strange's car speeding down a dark curvy road on this rainy night. That's when something happens. A large flash of green illuminates the sky, distracting the doctor. He loosed control of the vehicle. The screen goes black as we hear a large crashing sound. End scene.

So this will clearly help set up Dr. Strange's origin story, and also leave plenty of questions to have fans talking. What was he so angry about? What was that large green flash?

I believe this works as it allows the actual "Dr. Strange" film to open with Strange being rushed to the hospital. They can then use flashback scenes to help fill in the blanks. They can show why he was angry as well as anything else that may have occurred in the car before the crash. Then on his mystical journey we can learn about the green flash of light, and have things come full circle.

My inclusion of the green flash was a hint at an infinity stone that I believe will be part of the film. So to tease that without actually showing the stone would be kind of cool. It would clearly be an important element to the film, and only slightly teased in the tag.

Spider Man tag

After the first scene finishes, the rest of the credits roll. The audience is still glued to their seats waiting for a second tag - and they will not be cheated. Once the credits finish, the crowd erupts at the sight of Tom Holland, the actor playing Spider-Man, back on the screen.

Peter Parker is walking down the steps of his high school. As he walks down the sidewalk he hears sirens and sees flashing lights. Parker looks left and right to make sure no one is watching, and he shoots a web to get himself to a rooftop. From the roof he sees an armed and masked baddie running from a bank with a bag leaking with cash.

Peter slips into his suit and swings into action. Spidey quickly stops the wannabe criminal, leaving him stuck to a light-post, surrounded in a web. Spider Man swings away from the scene.

Cut to Adrien Brody (an actor for those who do not know) in a coat and hat standing off to the side photographing the whole thing. More importantly, he is photographing Spider Man. The man takes his cell phone out of his pocket and makes a call. He says "Mr. Jameson, I got the pictures you've been looking for." End scene.

Now this is certainly to get people talking, which is what Marvel wants. Not only will it allow for more Spider Man in action, but raise plenty of questions again. The most important of those, who the heck is Adrien Brody playing?

The idea of the scene is to introduce a new casting of Adrien Brody (or whichever actor Marvel goes with), while also making people ask about who he is playing. I chose Brody because he has been linked to Marvel in the past, for both "Antman" as well as "Dr. Strange." The man I have him portraying here is Marc Gargan, who later becomes the villain Scorpion. In the comics, he is a private investigator who works with Mr. Jameson, so that dynamic will be shown here as well.

So introducing a new actor as well as a possible villain for the new "Spider Man" film will definitely get a ton of buzz. Anything Spider Man-related is sure to be a hit for a post-credit scene.

Conclusion

I think a Dr. Strange tag is a lock with filming complete and that being one of Marvel's riskiest films to date. Stirring up the hype during their biggest film yet will certainly help get the hype rolling for the mystical movie. The second tag I was torn between Spidey and Thanos, but I believe they won't want to overdue it with Thanos tags, and will have plenty of other chances to tease his impending arrival down the road. This is a great time to get the Spider Man train rolling, since he is in the film. People will certainly be talking about him when they leave the theater, and teasing his own film makes it even better.

So what do you think of these tag ideas? Do you have a scene idea you want to see? Which films should they hype up with these scenes? Let us know in the comments!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
