This past weekend, the UniverSoul Circus, a touring circus group, made a stop at Buffalo's Outer Harbor for a three-day stint. The circus, which has put on over 10,000 shows over the course of 23 years, marks one of the first events to take place at the Buffalo Outer Harbor this summer, following the Arboria Luminarium hosted at Wilkeson Pointe over Memorial Day Weekend.
The Outer Harbor seems to be following in the footsteps of Canalside and the Inner Harbor, who have transformed their parks into a location for various summer events and attractions, including the Memorial Weekend Carnival and Pridefest's hosted at the Canalside venue. This Thursday, Canalside will also welcome Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires to kick-off their popular Thursday night summer concert series. Heavy hitters for the season also include Public Enemy, Frankie Ballard and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra's Tribute to David Bowie performance on July 28.
As of right now, it's uncertain what the other main events the Outer Harbor will host after this weekend. Weekly, bike, kayak and paddleboard rentals are available, as well as weekly yoga classes. The past major exhibitions have garnered more attention to the Outer Harbor, so with due time, I'm sure the number of events will only go up.
