It's a safe bet to say every 90's or early 2000's kid watched the famous "Crocodile Hunter" at one time or another. If you are an animal lover like me, you probably spent hours watching Steve Irwin wrestling crocodiles and dreaming of visiting the Australia Zoo the Irwin family owns.
We were all moved by Steve Irwin's exhilarating energy and passion Steve Irwin had for animals. We witnessed Steve's passion on several shows on Animal Planet such as "The Crocodile Hunter," "The Croc Files," and the "Crocodile Hunter Diaries." Steve Irwin was also featured in a lot of other shows such as "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and "The Late Night Show With Conan."
On September 4th, 2006, the world was devastated by the news of Steve Irwin's passing. Steve passed away doing what he loved. We mourned his death, but his legacy continued on...
To those of us who kept up with the Irwins (or frequently watch Jimmy Fallon), you know that Steve Irwin Day is not the only way his legacy is being continued. His son 13-year old son, Robert Irwin, has been walking in his father's footsteps at the Australia Zoo, on tv, and on social media.
If you follow Robert Irwin on Instagram (or his pet pug's account), you will see he is very active in wildlife and the Australia Zoo his family owns. If you look Robert up on YouTube, you can find him celebrating his 10th birthday by feeding a crocodile. Lately, Robert has been also been a frequent reappearing guest on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" (very similar to the late night shows his father was frequently featured on).
When you watch Robert Irwin and listen to him speak, there is no doubt about who his father was. He shares his father's energy, and most importantly, his father's enthusiastic passion for animals. Watching Robert Irwin is like traveling through time to Steve Irwin's Crocodile Hunter days. Here are some clips of Robert Irwin's appearances on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon." If you have not seen any of these videos yet, grab some tissues. They will melt your heart.
As you can see, Robert has been an amazing attribution to "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon." Robert has stolen our hearts with his positive energy, his Australian accent, his dad's old sayings, his love for animals, and of course, by making us laugh as Jimmy Fallon squeamishly interacts with the animals. What some of you may not know is during Robert Irwin's most recent appearance, he had an exciting announcement...
THE IRWIN FAMILY IS COMING BACK TO ANIMAL PLANET!
It has been 11 years since Steve Irwin's passing, and his wife and children will be now following in his footsteps in 2018! According to the press, they will be producing television shows, projects, and serving as global ambassadors for Discovery Communications. There has not been a lot of release about the specific content of the shows that will be airing, but I'm sure they will not disappoint!
Needless to say, we are all happy to see the Irwin family back on Animal Planet.
