As college students, we can all agree that caffeine is our best friends (aside from our moms and dogs). What we need to realize is that there are several ways of increasing our caffeine content. While some methods are common knowledge, others may be unknown to many people.
1. Coffee
This way is obvious but necessary. Black coffee, lattes, frappuccinos, coffee ice cream––you name it, it has caffeine. Even decaf has a little bit whether or not you want to admit it. Treat yourself and get a Starbucks or coffee from your college's coffee shop.
2. Tea
While tea is another obvious method of getting caffeine, not all teas are an excellent source of caffeine. Black, Green, and Earl Grey teas are infamous for supplying a daily dose of caffeine. Chai has a smaller amount, but it will do the trick if the drink is large enough. However, herbal teas, such as orange spice and chamomile, do not naturally have caffeine, so avoid those kinds of teas if you want to stay awake. Hence the "Caffeine Free" labels on the tea bag packets.
3. Chocolate
Hot chocolate, chocolate milkshakes, and caffeinated chocolate bars are all great ways to get that extra boost of caffeine into your diet when needed. Not only are they all super delicious, but they will help keep you up speaking from personal experience.
4. Caffeinated soap
Yes, this is a real thing. While it sounds incredible and, overall, has decent Amazon reviews, I have never taken the chance to try it. As read by the reviews, the soap will help you to become more alert and will potentially keep you up at night.
5. Protein Bars
Not only do bars provide energy from nuts and all the healthy items they put in them, but bars such as Clif Bars are a nice way to get a little bit of caffeine into your body, which is just enough to keep you awake long enough to finish that homework about which you completely forgot.
Get some caffeine; you deserve it. Keep on keeping on, and stay up all night for as long as your heart desires or until you realize it is 3 A.M. and you have to be up in four hours for class.
