As I write this article at 8:30 at night on April 28th, I look back to where I was a year ago: finishing my senior year of high school, excited for what the future might bring, and ready to graduate high school and move on to Butler University. It's one year later and I have just finished my freshman year of college and am finding out what colleges my friends from high school (the Class of 2017) are going to since it is almost May 1st- national college decision day.

Earlier today, Butler tweeted out asking students- former and present- why we chose Butler and what Butler means to us. There is no way I could ever express my love for Butler University in 140 characters or less; it's just not possible. Butler is my second home and a place where I have made such amazing friends. It is a school with an incredible basketball team, professors, and a community of CARE. This article is for the Butler University Class of 2021.

Welcome to Butler University, Class of 2021! You have made arguably one of the best decisions of your life. Congratulations on getting here; I know that it's been a long time coming. There is nothing like the chance of a new beginning especially at a school like Butler. I know it seems daunting- the fear and feeling of college looming over your head, but it's okay. It might be daunting, but it's exciting. So here's some advice from a member of the Class of 2020.

1. Freshman year flies by faster than you think, so enjoy it while you can.

2. It's okay if you don't make friends immediately- in fact, don't expect to make friends immediately.

Typically, the friends you make during your first semester of college don't even end up being the ones you're closest to by the time it ends. Don't go in looking for your bridesmaids or groomsmen, it takes time to make good friends.

3. Step outside your comfort zone- join a few clubs or join a fraternity.

Do something unexpected; I promise it will be great.

4. Being a freshman in college is completely different from being a freshman in high school, so don't worry about the feeling of being the new kids on the playground or being fresh meat.

5. Get ready for the time of your life because it's coming whether you're ready or not.

See you all in less than four months!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
