I once read an article about how God has control of our entire lives, and how his plan will trump all else. Everything we go through and everyone we encounter happens for a reason- it's all a part of His plan. Even when you mess up and make a mistake, you are living out the journey that He has set forth for you.
Now... what if I don't believe in God? What if I can't seem to grasp the idea that there is a holy spirit above me, watching my every move, and that he has a specific plan for me and the direction that my life will go? I grew up believing in God and having a solid relationship with him. I attended church camps, and I tried my hardest to make time for a service every Sunday. I still do believe in Him, but I can't seem to just let my guard down and let His plans for me take their course.
I am a firm believer in the saying that everything happens for a reason. It's cliché, I know, but it's true. We are each destined for something greater in our future. Whether we see that personally or not, it's a fact. We are capable of such epic things. And we were set on this Earth to do great things! When we choose job B over job A, there was reason behind it. And we might not get the rewards from that decision immediately, but we will. And we'll appreciate our intuitive to have made that decision.
Being a Christian, I have been asked the same questions over and over again. "If God were real and has such a great plan for us, why does he let bad things happen to us or to the ones we love?" I agree with that question- It took me, and is still taking me- a long time to come up with an answer. The truth of it is that God isn't letting these bad things just happen to us. It's life. There are things that will happen to us that are completely out of our control, and out of God's control. if He were to control every aspect of our lives, this world would be perfect. But it's not. So bad things, and bad people do exist. You have to truly believe that when something bad happens to you, it's happening for a reason. That reason is not to make you cry, or feel hurt, or feel ashamed. It's to teach you a lesson. To make you a stronger individual. That's where God comes in. He knows what you're capable of. He knows where you're destined to end up. These trials that we all go through are making us who we are.
God's plan for each and every one of us is beautiful. We have to learn to take the bad situations with a grain of salt, let it go and move on with our lives. Without them, we wouldn't continue on our journey of life.
