I remember in high school I took my first marketing class called "DECA". I originally got put into this class because I wanted to take half days my senior year so that I could go to work after school and still have time to come back for soccer and basketball practice. What I didn't know was that this class would literally change my life and help me decide on what I wanted to do in life. I was pretty good at math in the sense that I understood it very well. I liked writing but didn't see any path in that career field other than becoming an English teacher, which is not the job for me. I enjoyed learning about psychology, but sometimes I would lose focus and not pay attention.

This class was different. I had an amazing teacher who would teach us everything that there was to know in the marketing world. She taught us how to be professional, marketing tips and strategies, and many other things. One thing that stood out to me in this class, though was that I actually loved going to it. I loved learning about it. I would wake up and be excited to go to that class. This was how I decided that I wanted to do something that involved marketing.

I have heard people talk about kids in business programs. Most of the time they say that business is the major that students pick whenever they don't know what they want to do. A lot of the time they say that the classes that they take are very easy. They say that it is an easy major and anyone can get a business degree. I am not going to lie and say it is as hard as nursing, engineering, or other majors like that, but getting a business degree is not easy. You have to take a lot of credit hours in a short amount of time because normally business majors will double specialize. There are classes in the business program that have a sixty percent fail rate. So yes, it might not be as hard as certain majors, but it isn't something you can just not try in.

After you graduate the sky is the limit. The thing about business is there are so many things you can do with it. You can do accounting, marketing, international business, management, economics, and much more. There are so many job opportunities for someone who actually cares and is passionate about the major that they chose. Also, the pay can range, but there really is no limit on how far you can go. This world is a business. You will never run out of opportunity.

I chose to be a business major because the opportunities are high. I chose it because I actually like going to class and listening to what the professors have to say. I chose to major in business because I want to have a job that I actually enjoy the rest of my life. I didn't choose it because it was "easy."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
