'Friend Photo Shoot' And 9 Other Budget-Friendly Things To Do This Fall

Fall - by far, the best season in Kentucky. The leaves change from their typical greens to vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow, and their delightful crunch beneath your shoes always brings warmth to your heart. The brisk air calls for a seasonal necessity, the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and the warmth of cozy, colorful sweaters. With the beauty that comes with the autumn season, why not go out and enjoy it? Fall is the perfect time to partake in a variety of fun activities with your friends, and best of all, they don't have to break the bank! Here are a few ideas to kick your fall bucket list into high-gear:

1. Go to a pumpkin patch

The most cliché fall activity, but nevertheless fun! Get your pals together and pick the best (& cutest) pumpkin in the patch.

2. Pick apples

apples

Who doesn't love apples? Apple pie, caramel apples, bobbing for apples - the possibilities are endless! A day in the orchard makes for some great fall memories with friends.

3. Go on a hayride

farm

After all the apple and pumpkin picking, sit back and enjoy the orchard. The fall leaves always look beautiful, no matter the landscape. Take some time to sit on a hay bail and admire the landscape along the ride!

4. Pumpkin carving

So maybe you aren't Picasso when it comes to carving pumpkins, but don't set that carving knife down just yet! Jam out to a fall playlist and create a funny face, animal, or anything your heart desires. And don't forget to put in a tea light afterward!

5. Go to a haunted house/maze

corn field

A night of spookiness! Haunted houses or corn mazes put everyone in the Halloween spirit. Muster up the courage and see if you and your friends can survive a night among the ghosts and ghouls, lurking in the shadows.

6. Have a "fall photoshoot" with your friends

By far, my favorite thing to do with my friends is to find spontaneous photo ops! Pick a location, find some fallen leaves, and make a photoshoot of your own.

7. Play in the leaves

It sounds very childish, but seeing a huge pile of leaves will always be tempting. Let your inner child free and jump in!

8. Make room in your closet for cozy sweaters

fabric

This is, without a doubt, the BEST part of fall! The weather is finally not sweltering hot, which means your cozy sweaters should make an appearance. Ditch your summer looks for something a little more comfortable this season!

9. Watch scary movies

dancing skeletons

The month of October is prime time for finding Halloween thrills on a majority of TV stations. Freeform's 31 Nights of Halloween offers a whole month full of classic Halloween flicks, both thrilling and mild. If you're looking for a good scare, Syfy plays a variety of horror movies throughout the month (& year if the fright doesn't end!).

10. Have a bonfire

Some of my favorite memories with friends are made around a bonfire. Curl up in a fuzzy blanket, gather near the flames, and maybe even make some s'mores! A night under the stars with good company is always the best therapy.

The possibilities of fall activities are endless, so go enjoy the season.

Happy fall, Y'all!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
